Meditation has been practiced in many cultures for over ten thousand years and has endured because it works. Meditation offers incredible benefits for mental and physical health, regulates our nervous system, improves our breathing, brings internal peace and emotional awareness, and develops mindfulness.
What we experience while sitting in meditation slowly starts to have a positive effect in our everyday lives. We feel calmer, less reactive and kinder daily. It is a powerful tool for nourishing our lives in so many ways. It’s also just a simple way to slow down and relax, which is much needed in many people’s lives.
I have studied and been deeply influenced by Eastern meditation traditions, such as Buddhism, Zen, Taoism and Yoga, since I was a teenager, and I’ve taught meditation and facilitated events and retreats for over 25 years. You don’t need to engage in these traditions, though, to learn and enjoy meditation. At its core, sitting meditation is deeply beneficial without a specific spiritual tradition.
I will introduce you to sitting meditation and mindfulness practices, plus breathing techniques, for improved mental and emotional health, which has a positive flow-on effect on sleep, gut health, nervous system regulation, balancing neurochemistry, stress management, pain relief, human connections, and kindness and compassion.
