On Saturday 3 September we headed to Whiteside, on the north side of Brisbane, to present a Korean Cooking class for a private group of 12 people. Whiteside is a lovely country area outside Brisbane, with some beautiful countryside and old world charms.
In the class, we covered all the ingredients and flavours of Korean cuisine, and showed how to make kimchi, bibimbap (a popular and famous Korean mixed rice favourite) and a number of side dishes.
The food was met with a mix of curiosity, wonder, welcome and enjoyment - especially as we explored the spicy side of life in Korean cuisine. Korean food is growing in popularity and familiarity worldwide, and Australia is no exception. For Korean food Brisbane is no stranger. We've had Korean restaurants and a small population of Koreans in Brisbane for over 30 years.
Korean supermarkets and restaurants abound across Brisbane, and the Brisbane Korean population is growing rapidly, with an estimated 20 thousand Koreans now living in Brisbane.
We are available for Korean cooking and kimchi demos and run classes regularly in Brisbane. Please check our calendar of events for upcoming classes or contact us anytime.
