10 More Money Saving Eco Tips

1. No More Car Space

Do you pay for a city car space? How much does it cost each month? If it’s not part of your salary package, ditch the car space, use more public transport and save lots of money.

2. No More Company Car

While it may be an Aussie business tradition for management levels to have company cars, it’s a waste. Most company cars sit idle more than they are driven, are not eco-friendly and cost a lot. Instead, salary packages could contain eco-incentives for people to use more eco-friendly transport options.

3. Reward Economical Drivers

Some people do need a car for their work. Businesses could reward drivers who are more economical, thus more eco-friendly, encouraging to consider fuel consumption, pollution and travel time.

4. Eco Bonuses

Offer your managers and staff eco-bonuses for meeting specific environmental project targets. These could include eco-rewards like bicycles, public transport tickets and team events at eco-friendly tourist places and eco-events.

5. Carbon Disclosure

ASX 200 companies should consider joining the Carbon Disclosure Project, which aims to disclose the emissions produced by major companies. A 2008 report published emssions data for 1,550 of the world’s largest companies, which were collectively responsible 26% of global emissions from humans.

8. Travel Greener

Make it company policy to reduce air and vehicle travel, and instead choose technology to communicate, such as video-conferencing and ‘telepresence’. If you do have to fly, choose emissions offsetting schemes.
